The MPEG-2 Encoder takes any video source(NTSC,PAL,S-video, or Digital) and AC-3 Encoder

takes any audio source ( mono, stereo, Pro logic, MPEG1) and creates or multiplexes a single MPEG-2 data stream.

The Multiplex & Transport(MPEG2-TS) is used to add data to the MPEG-2 data stream.

It also converts different types of data streams into the correct format for the modulator.

 

The Poins DTV Modulator/Exciter retimes the incoming data to fit into the modulation plan and produces an IF or

RF carrier signal that has the VSB modulation on it. Part of the data is fixed function ; part is configurable.

The Upconverter / Power AMP is a transmitter which takes the signal from the modulator and feeds it into a mixer.

The mixer blends the IF signal with a local oscillator to obtain the final output frequency, which is filtered to remove

the undesired mix products, and then amplified.

The final step is to take the modulated output frequency of the transmitter and increase its power in the final power amplifier.

 

The amplified signal is finally sent to the antenna.

ATSC Transcoder is a professional quality, user friendly, high performance DTV signal processor designed primarily for terrestrial TV. PLL controlled tuning by advanced microprocessor insures precise UHF channel access. Careful design of the input achieves a wide dynamic range and a very low noise figure.
